Modern Slavery Statement
Last update: 18 November 2025
Our Commitment
Yojin is committed to operating ethically and with integrity. We have a zero-tolerance stance towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour in any part of our business or supply chains. This commitment is embedded in our core values and is a key criterion in our selection of partners. We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Yojin operates an online grocery delivery service in the UK. Our model connects customers with independent, self-employed delivery drivers who purchase and deliver goods from local supermarkets and stores.
Our Direct Operations
As a technology-led company, our direct workforce is primarily employed in roles such as software development, customer support, and operations. All direct employees are provided with fair terms of employment, above-minimum wages, and their rights are fully protected.
Our Extended Supply Chain
We recognise that our most significant exposure to potential labour risks lies within our extended supply chain. This is categorised into two key areas:
- Technology & Service Providers: providers of our software platform, payment processing, identity verification, and other operational services. These are typically low-risk due to their professional and regulated nature.
- The Freelance Driver Network: we acknowledge that the gig economy can present specific risks, such as vulnerability to debt bondage or excessive working hours. While our drivers are independent contractors (not employees), we are committed to ensuring our platform does not facilitate exploitative practices. We achieve this through the policies and due diligence outlined below.
Our Policies
- Code of Conduct for Partners: suppliers and service providers must comply with all applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and adhere to the principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
- Driver Agreement and Standards: our contractual agreement with all freelance drivers explicitly prohibits any form of forced labour. It affirms that drivers are independent entities, free to accept or decline delivery offers and to work flexibly. We strictly forbid the withholding of identification documents or the charging of recruitment fees.
- Whistleblowing Policy: we provide confidential and accessible channels for all workers, including drivers and the employees of our suppliers, to report concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Recruitment Policy: for our direct employees, we conduct right-to-work checks to safeguard against child or forced labour and never charge fees to workers.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We have a risk-based due diligence process to identify, prevent, and mitigate modern slavery risks.
For Service Providers
- We assess risk based on geography, service type, and dependency.
- Higher-risk engagements may require detailed questionnaires and contractual warranties.
- We may request evidence of anti-slavery policies or third-party audits.
For Our Driver Network
- Identity and Right-to-Work Verification: a third-party service verifies identity and UK right to work before platform access.
- Earnings Monitoring: we ensure drivers are paid promptly and in full; we monitor for patterns that may indicate exploitation (e.g., a single bank account receiving payments for multiple unrelated drivers).
- Open Communication Channels: we maintain direct driver communication and proactively monitor feedback for concerns.
We require all partners to promptly notify us of any modern slavery breaches. Failure to meet our standards may result in the suspension of platform access or termination of contracts.
Training and Awareness
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery, we provide training to relevant members of staff. This includes guidance on identifying the "red flags" of modern slavery—particularly in a logistics and delivery context—and the procedures for handling disclosures and escalating concerns. Training materials are reviewed annually and updated as our business, risk profile, or legislation changes.
Reporting Concerns
We encourage employees, drivers, suppliers, and customers to report any suspicions of modern slavery. Concerns can be raised anonymously via our dedicated email address:
All reports will be treated confidentially where possible and will be investigated promptly and fairly. We strictly prohibit retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Measuring Effectiveness and Continuous Improvement
- Completion rates of supplier risk reviews and due diligence questionnaires.
- Tracking the number and outcome of reported concerns and investigations.
- Monitoring driver onboarding data and feedback for potential risk indicators.
- Annual reviews of this statement and related policies.
Approval
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Yojin for the financial year ending 2025. It will be reviewed and updated annually and is published on our website.
